Program Description
Special Imaging technologists work in a highly specialized field operating sophisticated imaging equipment. They provide detailed cross-sectional images of the human body, assisting physicians with quality patient diagnosis and treatment.
Students have the option to take both CT and MRI together as a single 12-month (four quarters) program, or CT or MRI alone as an individual 6-month (two quarters) program. Any option results in the student receiving a University certificate in the modality of choice.
- Any option is a full-time, 40 hour-per-week program, which includes didactic and clinical experience.
- Clinical involves four (4), eight (8) hour days per week.
- Classes are scheduled for one day per week and may require the student to be on campus. There are no arrangements for part-time or evening status.
- Students will experience hands on training in their chosen modality.

Admissions Requirements
- Current ARRT Registry in Radiography (R).
- Current California (CRT) license.
- Current CPR Card with the American Heart Association.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 must be maintained in all didactic and clinical coursework. Students must complete all clinical requirements and class work, including assignments, quizzes, and exams to receive their certificate
- Venipuncture is highly recommended.
- Current required vaccinations by program start date.
Observation
- CT Only – 12 hours
- MRI Only – 12 Hours
- CT/MRI Combined – 24 hours (12 hours in each modality).

The following estimated cost of attendance is based on full-time attendance for the number of months enrolled per academic year. Estimated amounts may vary based on a number of factors. Students may use these estimates when applying for financial aid.

Notes
- Estimated amounts are for the academic year specified only. Amounts are based on full-time attendance for the number of months enrolled per academic year. International students need to calculate 12 months of living expenses based on these amounts.
- Amounts are expected to increase each year consistent with inflation in the professional education sector.
- To qualify for financial aid, most students must be enrolled at least half time in an aid eligible program and be taking degree requirements. Half time is 6 units in a quarter for undergraduate programs and 4 units in a quarter for graduate programs.
