Furnishings and what to bring

Each student is furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and built 鈥搃n closet, dresser. These are not to be removed from the room. Each room has a sink, medicine cabinet and vertical blinds as well as a ceiling light but you may want to bring desk or floor lighting (halogen lights are not allowed). You are responsible for bed and bath linens and any other personal items.

Extras that you may bring include a stereo, small refrigerator, microwave, and television. Out of respect for the other residents on your hall, we ask that you keep the volume low enough so that it cannot be heard outside your own room.

A nine-by-twelve-foot rug will fit in all the rooms. Anything larger than that will create problems, since the doors were not hung to accommodate carpeting.

You are responsible for the condition of your room.  Please do not add holes.  3M hooks work well on all surfaces.

Appliances

You may bring any appliance that has a sealed element; rice cooker, hot pot, small microwave, hair appliance, and iron. Any appliance that has the heating element exposed; toaster, toaster oven, hot plate, etc. may not be used in your residence hall room.  Each hall has a toaster oven and microwave available.

If you are using multiple appliances at one outlet site please use a power bar with a surge protector for maximum safety.  Do not add extension cords as this is a fire hazard.
